Inquiry Checklist

Prestressed Strand Inquiry Checklist

This checklist gathers everything a first strand inquiry should contain: the series, the diameter and grade, the application area, the standard if any, and the commercial points. Copy its questions into the inquiry form, and answer each one that applies.

Product questions

Name the series first: the 1x7 series, or one of the column-name structures, 1x2, 1x3, or compacted strand, if that is the interest. For the 1x7 series, name the nominal diameter and the tensile grade from the strand page table, copying the values exactly rather than rounding them. If the interest is in a column-name structure, say so plainly, and describe the application, because no table exists for those structures on this site.

Name any related item in the same inquiry if the project needs it: prestressed concrete wire, anchorage, or another steel-line name, each as a separate item rather than as an assumed companion to strand. Related items have their own pages at name level, and naming them separately lets the company reply on each one. If the project needs strand together with wire or anchorage, describe the combination and the structure type, so the reply can address the combination rather than a single item.

Application and standard questions

Name the application area from the applications overview: a bridge, a railway, a highway, a subway, a tunnel, an airport, a power station, a building, a geotechnical work, an industrial building, or a precision manufacturing use, together with the element concerned in general terms. An application area without an element is vague, and an element without an area lacks context, so name both. If the project cites a standard, quote it exactly, including the designation and year where the project cites them.

If the project requires a certificate document, name that document in the same message, together with the product and the destination market. A standard and a certificate are different requests, and both should be named before the order is placed, because a document that arrives after shipment cannot change the shipment. If a sample would help the project team confirm the series, diameter, or grade, ask for a sample in the same first message, and describe what it should demonstrate.

Commercial questions for strand

Please confirm the minimum order quantity, the lead time, and the payment terms in your inquiry before you place an order. Those three questions apply to every strand inquiry, and this site states no figure for any of them, because the source pages publish no fixed commercial terms. Asking them in the first message, together with the technical questions, lets the company reply with terms that match the specific series, diameter, grade, and quantity in question.

Name the packaging need, the shipping method, and the destination as well, each stated plainly in the first message. The destination shapes both shipping and documentation, and the shipping method shapes timing, so neither belongs in a later round. Where the quantity is still a range, state that range openly, because terms written for the real range fit the eventual order, while terms written for a guessed single figure may not.

Sending the strand checklist

Copy the answered questions into the inquiry form on the inquiry page, or into an email to [email protected], with the same content either way. Read the message once before sending, checking for the details that are easiest to forget: the exact series name, the diameter and grade copied from the table, the application area with its element, the standard quoted exactly, and the commercial questions. A message that passes that read usually receives a complete reply, while one that fails it usually receives a round of clarifying questions.

Keep a copy of the sent checklist with the order record, and check the reply against it point by point when it arrives. Any checklist point the reply does not cover should be asked again before an order is placed, because an unasked point is an unagreed point. That habit, applied to every inquiry on this site, prevents most of the disputes that arise from assumed terms, and it costs nothing more than a careful read before sending.
